We are a collection of auto parts stores and repair shops, owned by a network of automotive parts warehouse distributors which means you likely know us under a different name. Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores and Certified Service Centers are a part of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, one of the largest auto parts distribution networks in the world. You may have unknowingly visited one of our parts stores or had your vehicle repaired at one of our network locations in the past. This is because at our core, we are a collection of family businesses. We are your neighbors, your friends, and members of your community. History
Bumper to Bumper traces its roots back to the earliest days of program groups in the automotive aftermarket. It was founded in 1972 by Martin G. (Marty) Brown in Kansas City, MO. Such “programmed distribution” groups centered around common identification and consumer advertising to compete more effectively with mass merchandisers, chain stores and other aftermarket parts and service providers. Bolstered by aggressive and creative advertising and promotional programs, Bumper to Bumper established itself as one of the preeminent identity programs with distributor affiliates coast to coast in the United States, Mexico and Canada. In 2000 Bumper to Bumper merged with Auto Value to form the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance. From its inception, the Alliance became the largest group of independently owned warehouse distributors affiliated as a single program group. Today, the group goes to market under both the Bumper to Bumper and Auto Value brands.
The Alliance provides its affiliated Bumper to Bumper and Auto Value jobbers with a support system including a full range of marketing programs, signage, merchandising materials, seasonal promotions, personnel training, business technology and an industry-leading assortment of nationally branded OE quality replacement parts. Additionally, the Alliance leads the aftermarket with its own exclusive brands like Perfect Stop® and Parts Master® that are available exclusively from its affiliated distribution centers and stores. To promote all of its store and product brands, the Alliance offers local advertising assistance as well as aggressive, ongoing national ad and PR campaigns.
Of particular note is our industry-leading Certified Service Center program, providing independent service centers with a comprehensive support program to level the playing field with national service chains. The program includes Confidence Plus®—our industry-leading national parts and service warranty—and SafeRoute Roadside Assistance® as well as training, merchandising and marketing materials and subsidies for many commercial technology programs.
